“The best things in life often aren’t things at all. They are experiences lived, emotions felt, and connections made. These are the things that sparkle in our memory. And it is when we are feeling grateful that we can perform our most beautiful acts and appreciate our most treasured moments.”

We are doing our best to have a little fun as we host SEMO Electric’s 2023 Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 18 at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo grounds. Rain or shine, it will be a drive-thru event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. We would appreciate prayers for no severe storms. Come visit with Team SEMO!

Registration and voting will take place from your vehicle’s window during the event. Members will be asked to approve minutes from the 2022 annual meeting, and financial statements for 2022, and elect four candidates to SEMO Electric’s Board of Directors. Please see the following pages for minutes, financial statements, and candidate profiles.

All members (one per household) who attend will receive a $15 bill credit, plus a participation gift, and be placed in The Grand Prize Drawing for one of five $250 bill credits. Voting will end at 6 p.m. so ballots may be counted. Results will be announced during the business meeting, which will start at 6 p.m. The business meeting will be broadcast live on Facebook and Classic KYMO FM 105.3. Members may park and attend the business meeting in person. The Grand Prize Drawing will be held live on SEMO Electric Cooperative’s Facebook page at 9 a.m., Friday, May 19. Winners will be notified.

To save you money, this issue of Rural Missouri is SEMO Electric’s Official Notice for the Annual Meeting. SEMO Electric’s Bylaws state the printed annual meeting notice shall be delivered before the date of the meeting. Rather than mail a letter, we utilized this publication to save about $10,000 in postage costs. To clearly notify members we also printed a message on recent bill statements and enclosed a bill insert.

We hope to see you at the annual meeting as serving you and our communities is part of the joy of working at SEMO Electric and GoSEMO Fiber. Team SEMO participates in many events to stay connected. For example, we recently helped assemble 27,000 packages of dried food for Meals of Hope using rice donated by Martin Rice based in Bernie. We helped pack Easter meals for families. We participated in Big Truck Night at Dexter. Plus, Team SEMO does many things without a photo taken. We are part of your community. Thank you. Stop by the annual meeting to say hello.
