Team SEMO’s Dannette and Chas Visit KYMO

Today, Team SEMO’s very own, Danette Cooper and Chastina Kersey, visited with Reid Howell to discuss a variety of topics, ranging from spring storms to this year’s annual meeting.

After our area has already experienced some spring storms this year, Cooper made a point to emphasize how important it is for members of SEMO Electric Cooperative to notify Team SEMO when they experience outages or see downed lines. When you experience an outage, Cooper reminds listeners “If you think that your neighbor has reported [an outage], and there’s no need for you to report it, please still report it.” Individual outages can happen, so be sure to report an outage when it occurs instead of relying on others in the neighborhood to report it. Individual reports also ensure SEMO Electric has accurate data that helps them respond to outages more efficiently.

Communication is key when it comes to outages and SEMO Electric keeps its members in the loop by using their Facebook to report to members about outages, posting photos of damage, and sending out updates. Cooperative members can keep SEMO Electric in the know by using one of their many ways to report outages. Members can call 800-813-5320 to report an outage by account number or phone number and it is encouraged that members use their account number to ensure that the correct location is reported. If you do not want to call, you can even report outages through the SmartHub app.

Team SEMO also discussed this year’s annual meeting with KYMO. Kersey encourages cooperative members to come out and see Team SEMO on May 16th at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo Grounds anytime between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. After voting ends at 6:00 pm, members are free to stay and attend the business meeting where the newly elected Board Members will be announced. A $15 bill credit and goodie bags will be given out to members who attend the annual meeting and a drawing will take the following day for larger bill credits to be given away. Winners of the drawing will be announced on SEMO Electric Cooperative’s Facebook page.
