AMEC Conducts Safety Visit and Inspection

Johnie Hendrix, vice president of risk management and training, with the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives (AMEC), made an unannounced visit to SEMO Electric Cooperative to visit crews and inspect the cooperative's fleet.

Hendrix said the cooperative’s vehicles and equipment were found in good condition and crews working in the field were working safely.

These inspections, conducted by AMEC at least biannually, are a crucial component of the Missouri Electric Cooperative Insurance Plan (MECIP). MECIP was established in 1993 following a study that demonstrated its potential to save cooperatives and their member-owners substantial expenses. This accrued savings, which amounts to nearly $11 million to date, is reinvested in Missouri's electric cooperatives. It significantly aids in mitigating the continually rising costs associated with workers' compensation insurance.

Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives' Johnie Hendrix conducted an unscheduled safety visit and inspection with Team SEMO's linemen while they installed a new pole, guy wire, and pad mount transformer at Nestle Purina in Bloomfield.
