Welcome to the Cooperative! We are excited to be the Cooperative serving your electric needs!

Upon joining (no membership fee) SEMO Electric Cooperative, you become a member and owner rather than a customer. What does that mean? Lots of things. Most importantly, the Cooperative is owned by those it serves so margins (profits) are returned to SEMO Electric's members in the form of capital credits (money back based on your use). If you move away, please give us your new address so we can forward your check.

Start or Transfer Service

To start or transfer service at a new or additional address, please review the following information and visit our Bloomfield or Sikeston office

Residential (New Member and Existing Member)

What information will be needed to have residential services connected?

  • Valid photo ID
  • Social Security Number
  • Landlord-Tenant Agreement (if renting, this agreement is required to be completed and signed by the landlord)
  • Physical Address (where service will be connected)
  • Meter Number

Is a deposit required?

SEMO Electric Cooperative will process a soft credit check to determine all deposits. Deposits will be either waived, $200 or $400 depending on credit rating. Credit checks will only be submitted in person with proper identification. Or you are welcome to open a pay-as-you-go account for as little as $25 with no credit check.

Business

What information will be needed to have business services connected?

  • Tax ID Number (copy of the letter assigning the Tax ID number to your company)
  • Type of Business
  • LLC, Corporation, etc.
  • Physical Address (where service will be connected)
  • Meter Number

Will there be a deposit required?

Yes, deposits will be twice the high bill average at the service location.

Building a new home, business and/or etc.?

All new services will need to provide the following:

  • Closest Meter or Pole Number to where service will be built
  • Emergency Address
  • Provide Flood Plain (if required by your county)
  • Pay Construction Cost (after meeting with Engineer)

Pricing Inquiry Only:

Member will need to call or visit office to speak with a Member Service Representative to provide the following information:

  • Name
  • Phone Number
  • Closest Meter or Pole Number to where service will be built
  • Address (if known)
  • Projected Time for Service 

Stop Service

To stop billing and close your account, please call us at 800-813-5230 or visit our Bloomfield or Sikeston office with the following information: 

  • Name under which the account is listed
  • Social Security Number or FEI/EIN number
  • Meter and/or Account Number
  • Phone Number
  • Address of service to be disconnected
  • Forwarding mailing address 
  • Date of disconnection

Be sure to attend May's Annual Meeting for Members. Because SEMO Electric is member-owned and operated, democratic processes allow you to vote in annual cooperative board elections of which elected directors are nominated from among the members. See Bylaws for more information.
