SEMO Electric Goes to Washington, D.C. for FCC Broadband Funding

SEMO Electric Cooperative and other electric cooperatives met with the Federal Communications Commission’s Chairman Ajit Pai and Staff to discuss the Connect America Fund Phase II, which could provide up to $650 million over 10 years for broadband services for rural Missouri. We appreciate the FCC’s time and focus on the issue and look forward to participating in the auction.

CAF-II is part of the Commission’s reform and modernization of its universal service support programs. CAF-II will use competitive bidding to efficiently support the deployment of networks providing both voice and broadband service, thereby expanding broadband availability to millions more unserved Americans.
